Does Google use social media links for ranking

As assumed all along but not proven til now, Google’s own Matt Cutts reveals how Google uses links from sources such as Facebook Pages and Twitter as specific ranking criteria.  Make sure to add good content to your facebook pages at least a couple times a week and link back with your keyword phrase as the anchor text to your websites specific page for more information on that subject.

Avoid using low quality content

As many of you know, I preach constantly about adding good quality content on a regular basis to your site. Many however write quick copy using basic facts indirectly or loosely related to the subject of the keyword phrase focused page itself.

Google Rankings and the speed of your site

We all new that page loading speed was a factor to Google for years but it was never officially released by them as to what extent. Google has obviously been running extensive tests and has concluded that if page load times decrease by even milliseconds, it substantially increases the load on their servers by increasing the number of concurrent searches being performed and waiting for sites to load.

What does this mean to your site? Well this means you could be suffering poor search rankings as your quality score is affected by your slow loading site.  Continue reading »
